Dear SoG,

Today Virgin America and Alaska Airlines are officially joining forces to create the premier airline for people living on the West Coast. These two customer-favorite airlines are known for low fares and friendly service and, quite frankly, for being a bit different from other airlines. With a bigger network, more flights, richer rewards and global partners that span the world, we look forward to earning your loyalty and becoming your 'go-to' airline. Simply put, our goal is to meet all of the travel needs for customers living anywhere along the West Coast.

Combining the strengths of Virgin America and Alaska Airlines gives you access to an expanded route network with nearly 1,200 daily departures to 118 destinations across the United States, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica and Cuba. This represents almost one departure per minute! With hubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Anchorage, we now offer more nonstop West Coast departures than any other airline, giving 50 million travelers more options every time they fly. And with our global partner network, we provide access to over 800 destinations worldwide.

We realize that people see Alaska Airlines and Virgin America as different — at least on the outside. That's fair. But both airlines have always been about doing things a little bit differently to offer something better for travelers. Virgin America and Alaska have both built outstanding reputations for low fares, on-time performance, innovative products and experiences, and award-winning customer service. Together, we are more than the sum of our parts.

In the short term, your Virgin America flight experience will stay the same. If you have already booked a flight or plan to book on Virgin America, you'll fly on a Virgin America aircraft and be welcomed by their fantastic Teammates, just as you are today.

As an Elevate member, you'll soon receive additional benefits. Starting Monday, December 19, you will be able to earn Elevate points when you fly on Alaska Airlines and we will provide more information regarding earn structure at that time. This doubles your flying options from the Bay Area and LAX and doubles your options for travel within California. It also opens up more vacation destinations, including all four major Hawaiian Islands. Additionally, Elevate elite members will have priority check-in and boarding on Alaska Airlines.

Effective Monday, January 9, we'll also be rolling out additional benefits for Elevate members:
• We will invite you to enroll in Alaska's award-winning Mileage Plan, enabling access to our global partner network of over 800 worldwide destinations. You'll receive more detail on how Elevate points can be used to book award travel on Alaska and Alaska Global Partners at that time.
• Elevate elites will be status matched into Mileage Plan, unlocking the generous benefits of our frequent flyer program, including complimentary first class upgrades on Alaska flights.
For more information, please visit Alaska Airlines + Virgin America.

We appreciate all that you love about Virgin America. We hope that as you get to know us at Alaska Airlines, you will see that, much like Virgin America, we have a relentless passion for making flying better for everyone.

All of us at Alaska Airlines look forward to starting this journey with you.
