We’ll be transporting your customers to the sunshine in comfort this summer, as we’ve recently
announced that from May 2013 we’ll start flying our A330s to Barbados.
Our first A330 arrived in April 2011, and since then, we’ve welcomed nine more to the fleet.
Currently flying to New York JFK, Delhi, Mumbai, Washington, Boston and Dubai, they’re
really doing a great job of delighting our passengers.
The A330s are the first aircraft with our brand new Upper Class Suites onboard. We’ve
improved on our original suite, adding a new bed, a deeper recline and a brand new comfort
system. There’s also a fabulous new onboard bar, the longest in the sky.
In Premium Economy there’s the fabulous purple leather seat with lumbar support, an
adjustable headrest and a dual position footrest. Each seat has a seat pitch of
96.5cm and an increased width of 53cm (equivalent to other airline’s business class) plus
18in of legroom and 16 degrees of relaxing recline.
There’s a new seat in Economy too, with a minimum of 78cm of seat pitch
plus an adjustable headrest and lumbar support.
And all cabins enjoy our fantastic new touchscreen entertainment system Vera Touch.
It’s easy to use, just like an iPad. Unlike the old system where passengers had to wait for
movies to start on a loop, Vera Touch is on demand, so you can pause, rewind and play
entertainment when you want. Vera Touch has over 300 hours of entertainment to choose
from, including blockbuster movies to TV shows, music and games.
These aircraft also have AeroMobile onboard, so our passengers can make and receive
calls and texts using their own mobile phones, for about the same as it costs to roam in another country.
Our A330s will start flying to Barbados daily from 3 May 2013.
Our new UK domestic service
Code:
From April 2013, we’ll be offering daily domestic services from London Heathrow to
Manchester, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
It’s the first time we’ve flown domestically within the UK. Now, rather than connecting to
London with another airline, passengers from Scotland and Manchester will be able to fly
Virgin Atlantic to London and then onwards to our top business and leisure destinations.
These new services will also add a much needed choice for people travelling to London
and the South for business or leisure.
We’ll be offering six daily flights to and from Edinburgh, four daily flights to and from
Manchester and three daily flights to and from Aberdeen.
Our flights will arrive into London Heathrow Terminal 1, just a short bus ride from our international
home at Terminal 3.
The domestic baggage allowance is exactly the same as long haul, so one 23kg bag for Economy,
two 23kg bags for Premium Economy, and three 32kg bags for Upper Class. This differs for
some routes. Check virginatlantic.com for more details.
Upper Class passengers connecting to international flights at London Heathrow will enjoy
access to our specially selected partner lounges at Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Manchester and
London Heathrow Terminal 1. Upper Class passengers will also enjoy our complimentary
chauffeur driven car service to and from the airport, available with selected fares.
These services will be operated using four A320 aircraft. The aircraft will have Virgin Atlantic
livery, and will be operated by Virgin Atlantic trained uniformed crew.
Passengers can look forward to great food onboard, including a hot breakfast and snacks
during the day. A complimentary drinks service will also be available.
