Die frz. Fluggesellschaft Air Austral mit Firmensitz in Sainte-Marie, Réunion, France, wird ab 25. Maerz mit Beginn des S12 Flugplans den Flugverkehr nach Bangkok, Sydney, AUS, und Nouméa, Neu Kaledonien, einstellen.

'Air Austral has axed its long haul Reunion – Sydney – Noumea and Reunion – Bangkok flights.

The airline says the decision followed a review of long haul operations in what is a difficult economic climate and the impost of high jet fuel prices.

It will allow the carrier to focus on its core Reunion-France services.

The last Air Austral flight from Sydney will depart on 20 March, 2012. The final Bangkok service will operate on 26 March...'

Für LH (noch) kein Problem aus meiner Sicht. Air Austral und Seychelles machen vor allem Touriverkehr, der ist sehr preissensibel und steckt auch den Zwischenstop in DXB oder DOH weg. Die Kundschaft, auf die es das Kartell in Europa abgesehen hat ist nimmt die 2-3h extra sicher eher ungern in Kauf.

Langfristig könnte das aber der Trend sein. Irgendwie müssen knapp 100 A380 ja gefüllt werden.

Nun doch nicht...Air Austral has reversed its decision to cancel service to Bangkok, Noumea and Sydney starting Northern Summer 2012 season.
From 25MAR12, the airline continues to offer 1 weekly St. Denis de la Reunion – Bangkok service, and 2 weekly St. Denis de la Reunion – Sydney – Noumea flight. Bangkok flight is operated by 777-200ER, however reservation is only available for the month of April 2012 only. Sydney and Noumea operation is operated by 777-200LR.Reservation for these flights on/after 25MAR12 is open as of 16FEB12. Schedule....
