Die russische Transaero wird im Herbst einen Dienst von Moskau nach Miami aufnehmen, im Winter soll New York (JFK) folgen.

'Russian airline Transaero filed with the Transportation Department to start once-weekly service in October between Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport and Miami, with twice-weekly service to New York Kennedy to follow in December.

The airline also seeks approval to fly charters.

Transaero briefly operated Moscow-Los Angeles service in the mid-1990s.'

'Transaero Airlines' board approved the acquisition of five B777-200s and nine B747-400s as part of its ongoing fleet development and modernization program.

Deliveries will start in May and continue throughout the year. The widebodies will be purchased through financial leases, an airline spokesperson confirmed to this website, adding that it concluded an agreement with Japanese trading company JALUX for the 747-400s in a deal worth $252 million. The -400s previously were operated by Japan Airlines and will replace Transaero's -200s and -300s. They will be operated mainly on international routes.
