France: Nationwide General Strike, Thursday 24th June 2010
A French nationwide general strike for 24 hours and demonstration are scheduled for Thursday June 24. There are six French unions participating in the action affecting both air and rail servcies.
Air France-KLM staff will participate in the action, 0100 to 24:00 Thursday June 24, 2010. Please expect flight delays out of Paris, Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports.
French railway strike, domestic rail to be affected but more information will be available as detailed timetable is released by Rail Europe. The strike actions may affect International high speed trains however it is unknown whether Eurostar will be affected by the strike.
The work stoppage is likely to prompt an increased demand for flights operated by other airlines and alternative modes of transport, including taxis and rental cars. In addition, increased use of private vehicles may exacerbate congestion on major routes; please allow additional time for transfers.
