Doesn't seem right, as the timetable from that period shows YUL-ZBF as QK8744, and much earlier in the day. The time stamp on this is close, but about 2 hours after what I would expect, and I don't see any 8995 going onward from YUL. Wonder if anybody can confirm/deny this was YQM-YUL?

MUC, ZRH, FMO, FKB -> easy and regular, the contacts are prompt, supportive (they smile about our obsession / dedication), help with additional investigation and information.
DUS, CGN and BER (TXL, SXF, THF, BER), are manageable yet at "risk", the department don't really want to help, wait times, need to beg for responses, junior resources deliver results
VIE used to be very supportive, yet they recently turned their back, "we can only help you with last 5 year flights... why do you ask so often etc."

I will try my best with VIE, but expect the worst.
BSL/EAP/MLH and LUX lost contact
CPH - currently working my way into it

The big lottery FRA, @phil8900 managed to get to it, as well as NUE
@bursche99 Thank you for this. Too bad your LUX contact is gone--there are 4 flights I'd love to find on BA (the 8144/8145 flights). It annoys me I can't find these CityFlyer flights on LHR-LGW. Most of the airports I'm looking for still are the big Asian hubs or regional carriers in the US that are too small to get listed on BTS. There is one FRA and one CPH I earlier submitted (post #7887). @zeus1309 has been fantastic in getting MUC, FRA, ZRH and VIE that I was missing.

Since QK didn't use alphanumeric callsigns I think that the flightnumber is correct and only the wroing routing was assigned.

Here's a rare AC CR9 request that wasn't flown by me:

2010-10-12 AC8779 YUL YOW 0013 0053 CR9 Adam Smith (op by QK) (this flight was scheduled to depart at 2150 on the 11th, but was delayed past midnight; also, QK8779 YHZ-YUL was the same aircraft; QK8778 was the inbound)



@bursche99 Thanks, I'll need to take a look through some of these. First two are great, of course. The HKG one, I'll have to look, but the aircraft would have done it in the opposite direction you're thinking of it - YYZ-YVR-HKG-YVR-YYZ. So an AC8 on D+1 might solve for the AC7 that I asked for. But the AC8 on D-1 wouldn't. It's possible it could be the same aircraft, depending on the timing, but I suspect that total run would have taken more than 24 hours. But I haven't looked at the timetable or anything yet.

Re YVR<>YYZ: hard to judge an outbound vs a return on something like 102. Those are the big hubs for AC, so unlike an outstation where an AC7 probably turns to operate AC8, a YYZ-YVR might not go right back to YYZ. And depending on the day, it might go back to YYZ, or it might go to YUL, or the US, or overseas, or in for maintenance (couple big AC hangars a YVR).

I'll take a look in the next few days when I have some time.

This stuff is maddening at times. AC7997 YUL-IAH departed at 0845 and is an equally plausible flight for C-FCJZ to have operated, which made me question the notion that C-FCJZ operated the whole YUL-YOW-YFB-YOW-YUL-YHZ-YUL-YOW thing - which I do agree would have all been the same aircraft. That doesn't mean it didn't, just that there's an issue with the premise.

The IAH plane would have come straight back as 7998, arriving at 1643, gate 83. AC7744 to EWR would be a reasonable guess at what the IAH aircraft operated next. But it left from gate 81. Which is right next to 83, but still, a different gate.

There was an earlier flight to YOW, 8599, that I thought could have explained how C-FCJZ got to YOW in time to operate 8970 on the 12th. But that flight continued on to YQR and would have been overnight there.

So at the moment, I don't have an alternate explanation despite the flaw in the logic, and this may still be correct.

By the way, the CRJ-705 was a CRJ-900 that was only certified for 75 passengers - same as United's CRJ-550s that are actually CRJ-700s. While some sites erroneously use "CRJ7", the correct ICAO code is CRJ9, just like the CRJ-900, although it had a distinct IATA code (CRA).

The ones from the 12th don't do much for us, but the ones from Bear River are a perfect fit with the YUL-YHZ-YUL turn, and there are no other CRA flights around there at that time that it would have been operating, so I think this one is conclusively solved (y)

I was able to identify outbound or return for nearly all of them (although some of them aren't quite certain), and was unsuccessful on those as well (although I'll admit that my eyes were glazing over on trying to figure out all those damned PD ones).

One thing I'm curious about, do the QK7XXX flights operate differently from the QK8XXX flights? I noticed that tracing back their flights leads to the same pattern as exhibited by C-FCJZ's flights for QK8779.

This is interesting. I'm actually more inclined to think this is C-GONN.

While 8193 was nominally a "direct" flight with a stop, unlike some airlines, AC always has passengers deplane at intermediate stops like this. And I wouldn't necessarily expect a massive amount of traffic continuing from YKA to YYJ. There's also 45 minutes between the two legs, so plenty of time for people to deplane, change gates, etc.

Having found many other YVR<>YYJ flights, it's definitely not uncommon for AC to switch aircraft at the last minute on this route depending on loads. I listed it as a DH3 because that's what FlightStats and FlightAware said. But on FlightAware, type seems to get locked as soon as the flight gets loaded at T-48. FlightStats is maybe a bit more inconsistent, but I've still seen many flights where it has the wrong type - sometimes even when it has the registration.

Here's some recent history from C-GDMP, a WestJet 738. Or, depending on the flight, a 73G or a 7M8...

So I'm kind of more inclined to go off the information from the gates.

I did look at the 8193 and 8178 pairings for a bunch of other dates around then, and while it was usually the same gate in and out at YVR, this wasn't the only date when it looks like they might have swapped aircraft between the two legs of the "direct".

Any other information on either of the aircraft that day that might help resolve this? Although the challenge being most of the flights will just be out and back from YVR.

No idea. Where do you guys even start when you try to get this kind of info from an airline?
I find them out from others or I try to shoot my shot. In January I did the latter with several airlines and only FI was successful. IB tried to help but they can't get the data. One of the people I helped on Reddit turned out to be an AF employee at JFK and he tried asking his supervisor for tail number data. The supervisor knew his intentions and tried too but to no avail, their database only goes back to a few months iirc. 😞

I haven't gone and tried to look at all the E90 arrivals yet (you posted this just as I'm going to bed), but usually there were quite a few, places like YYC, YHZ, YVR, YYT. But I haven't actually looked at that day's flights around the time in question.

7092 und 7093 gibt es einige Flüge in 2004 DUS-MUC -> Sommer 2005 wechselt die Flugnummer dann auf ein Sonnen-Ziel.
