Once you've earned this benefit, we'll automatically look for any award itineraries and attempt to process your upgrade – 7 days before departure for Chairman's Preferred and 4 days for Platinum Preferred – up to 2 days before departure. We'll notify you after the first attempt, and if unsuccessful, we'll contact you again when the upgrade is successful. Upgrades are valid for Coach off-peak, low, medium and high award travel on US Airways within the contiguous U.S., Alaska, Canada, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Award travel must be booked from the qualifying member's Dividend Miles account, the qualifying member must be traveling and the itinerary must have no more than 2 passengers. You must book at least 3 days before departure. Unlike with Preferred upgrades for paid itineraries, we do not offer upgrades at check-in or have an upgrade standby list for award travel itineraries.
