Visa oder ESTA? (FRA -> SJO)

Hi,

ich habe eine Frage zu Visa/ESTA:

Meine Situation:
Ich bin deutsche Staatsangehörige, wohne in der Schweiz mit Ausländerausweis B.
Ich möchte von Frankfurt nach San Jose in Costa Rica reisen, fliege mit United Airlines und habe folgenden Reiseplan:

1. Frankfurt (Deutschland) nach Amsterdam (Niederlande)
2. Amsterdam (Niederlande) nach Houston (USA)
3. Houston (USA) nach San Jose (Costa Rica).

D.h. ich habe einen Zwischenstopp in den USA und brauche also dieses Visa/ESTA Zeug. Jetzt habe ich aber Folgendes gelesen:

"A return/onward ticket (or electronic ticket record) must be to a final destination country other than Canada, Mexico or contiguous (adjacent) countries or territories situated in or bordering the Caribbean Sea . If a passenger holds proof of residence in Canada, Mexico or a contiguous (adjacent) country or territory and is transiting the USA to that country or territory, then an onward/return ticket to that country or territory is accepted."

Heißt das jetzt, dass ich mit dem ESTA reisen kann oder brauche ich nochwas anderes?

ESTA sollte reichen, die Einreisebedingungen von Costa Rica solltest Du auch nochmal checken

ESTA reicht. Anders wäre es bei Aufenthalt >90d in "Canada, Mexico or contiguous (adjacent) countries or territories situated in or bordering the Caribbean Sea" und An- und Abreise über die USA, aber das ist bei dir schon nicht der Fall weil Costa Rica nicht zu diesen Gebieten zählt.

(1) Applicants arriving by air and sea. Applicants must arrive on a carrier that is signatory to a Visa Waiver Program Agreement and at the time of arrival must have a round trip ticket that will transport the traveler out of the United States to any other foreign port or place as long as the trip does not terminate in contiguous territory or an adjacent island; except that the round trip ticket may transport the traveler to contiguous territory or an adjacent island, if the traveler is a resident of the country of destination.

(5) The term “adjacent islands” includes Saint Pierre, Miquelon, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, the Windward and Leeward Islands, Trinidad, Martinique, and other British, French, and Netherlands territory or possessions in or bordering on the Caribbean Sea.
