Dear Chris
Following the sale of bmi to IAG on 20 April, we have been working closely with British Airways to deliver as smooth a transition as possible for our customers and we would like to take the opportunity to update you on some changes that will affect your future travel arrangements.
1. Some bmi routes will move to BA flight numbers
2. Booking bmi flights to/from London Heathrow
3. What to expect when you travel over the Summer
4. Changes to your Diamond Club benefits
5. The partnership with British Airways
1. Some bmi routes will move to BA flight numbers
We plan to transition bmi flight numbers to BA flight numbers in phases, in order to ensure the process runs as effectively as possible.
With effect from 10 May the following bmi routes will move to a BA flight number:
• Agadir
• Basel
• Bergen
• Casablanca
• Hanover
• Marrakech
• Nice
• Stavanger
• Vienna
If you have an existing booking on any of these routes, you do not need to do anything as either bmi or your travel agent will transfer your booking to the new flight number. Any new bookings will need to be made using the new BA flight number.
2. Booking bmi flights to/from London Heathrow
From 10 May, bmi flights to/from London Heathrow will only be available to be booked through British Airways, via ba.com or the airline's call centres or through your travel agent.
For customers who visit flybmi.com or call a bmi call centre, we will ensure that we provide information on how you can complete your booking.
3. What to expect when you travel over the Summer
As we confirmed in April, BA is planning to operate the bmi London Heathrow summer schedule. During this period, you will see that the exterior and interior design of our aircraft, as well as the onboard experience will gradually transform into a BA style.
If you are travelling during this period, we recommend that you check the flight information section on ba.com from 14 days before your departure date to confirm which airline is operating your flight and also the Terminal from which the flight is departing.
4. Changes to Diamond Club benefits
As part of the broader transition of bmi into British Airways, we would like to let you know about a number of changes to your Diamond Club benefits.
Once a bmi flight number transitions to a BA flight number, you will no longer be able to earn Diamond Club status miles on that route. However, you will still be able to earn and redeem destinations miles on flights with either a BA or a bmi flight number.
You will also be able to book your award flights on British Airways by contacting the Diamond Club call centre.
Details on all of the changes can be found on flybmi.com
5. The partnership with British Airways
British Airways would like to invite Diamond Club members who are not already members of the Executive Club to enrol at ba.com/welcomebmi. If you are a Diamond Club Gold or Silver member, you can also apply for matching tier status within the Executive Club.
Members of the BA Executive Club can enjoy a full range of benefits when flying on the new British Airways routes, including earning both Tier Points and Avios points.
During this period of transition, we will do our utmost to keep you informed of changes as soon as we possibly can and will be in touch before the end of May to update you on further changes to the programme.
We would also recommend that you always carry your Diamond Club membership card when travelling on BA or bmi.
In the meantime, for all the latest information please visit flybmi.com
Regards
Keeley Downing
