A South East Airlines (formerly known as Daghestan Airlines) Tupolev TU-154M, registration RA-85744 performing flight N2-372 from Moscow Vnukovo to Makhachkala (Russia) with 163 passengers and 9 crew, had taken off Moscow's Vnukovo Airport at 14:07L (11:07Z) and was climbing through 9100 meters (29800 feet) when the crew reported the loss of all three engines and requested to divert to Moscow Domodedovo about 80km/43nm from their present position. The airplane glided to a hard landing on Domodedovo's runway 32R in freezing rain about 30 minutes after departure, went off the runway and impacted a ground construction. 2 male passengers were killed, 19 people received serious and 37 people received minor injuries.
Russian Authorities reported there was no fire, the airplane received substantial damage. Fuel samples have been taken at Vnukovo Airport.
The airport reported, that the airplane landed on the runway but went off the runway and impacted a ground construction, which caused two fatalities.
The States Attorney's Office is investigating. The leading prosecutor said, first investigation results point into the direction of bird strikes.
The Federal Air Transport Agency "Rosaviatsia" (Civil Aviation Authority of Russia) said, that the crew reported problems with all engines at 14:20L, 2 minutes later they reported the failure of all engines together with the generators and navigational equipment. Earlier statements, that initially two engines failed with the third failing on approach, were incorrect.
