https://www.nst.com.my/business/201...oduces-kl-davao-route-dec-21-fares-start-rm99

DAVAO: Low-cost airline, AirAsia Bhd (AirAsia) has introduced its latest route to Davao, Philippines from Kuala Lumpur, with four times weekly direct flights, which will commence on Dec 21.

Available with celebratory fares from RM99 (one-way), the new route marks the airlines' fourth direct route from Malaysia to the Philippines after Manila, Cebu and Kalibo, with a total of 577,536 passengers flown from 2015 until 2016.
AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said Davao has the potential to be the international gateway for Asean to the southern Philippines, beginning with the new route.
"We strongly support the development of cities outside Metro Manila. We are confident that by increasing connectivity and accessibility to affordable air travel, AirAsia can help play a role in boosting economic growth in the south," he said after announcing the airlines' latest route in conjunction with the Fourth Davao Investment Conference 2017 in Davao, today.

Thai AirAsia

Bangkok-Jaipur 4/7 ab Ende September
Bangkok-Tiruchirappali 4/7 ab Ende September
Monday, 31 July 2017 | MYT 8:52 PM

NEW DELHI: Thai AirAsia will start direct flights to Jaipur and Trichy in September as budget carrier AirAsia Bhd’s South-East Asian affiliates grow their links with India.

The budget airline will fly four times a week between Bangkok and Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur starting from Sept 29, the airline said in an announcement in India on Monday.

Thai AirAsia chief executive officer, Tassapon Bijleveld, said AirAsia planned to expand services to India to tap into the growing tourism and business travel demand.

Thai AirAsia already has direct flights to Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Kochi in India and will also launch its four-times-weekly service to Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli city, also known as Trichy, on Sept 29.

The new flights would provide convenient and affordable travel options to Indian tourists visiting Thailand, as well as regional destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore and Macau using AirAsia’s regional network, the Thai AirAsia chief said at a press conference in Jaipur.

AirAsia group is expanding its services to key Indian cities, linking them with South-East Asian tourism hotspots. At present, the low-cost airline and its affiliates have about 130 flights per week between nine Indian cities and South-East Asia.

Indonesia AirAsia X, a long-haul budget arm of AirAsia group, launched daily flights between Bali and Mumbai via Kuala Lumpur in May.

AirAsia group will have 10 Indian cities in its network by September. - Bernama
