[h=2]VietJet Air to add Ho Chi Minh City-Phuket frequency in summer 2018[/h]22-Feb-2018

VietJet Air plans to increase Ho Chi Minh City-Phuket frequency from four to five times weekly from 25-Mar-2018 (Routes Online, 21-Feb-2018). Frequency will increase from five to seven times weekly from 23-Apr-2018. As previously reported by CAPA, VietJet Air also plans to upgauge from A320 equipment to A321 aircraft on the route from 23-Apr-2018.

CAPA - Centre for Aviation stated (26-Feb-2018) VietJet Air received one new A321-200 (VN-A649, serial number 8153) as recorded by the CAPA Fleet Database. VietJet now operates 29 A321s with five remaining on order.

VietJet Air reportedly plans to increase Ho Chi Minh City-Tainan frequency from five times weekly to daily, commencing 21-Jun-2018 (Routes Online, 26-Feb-2018). The LCC operates the service with A321 aircraft and is the sole scheduled operator on the route, according to OAG.

Vietnamese budget carrier Vietjet Air will launch direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to New Delhi in July.

The first direct link between the two cities aims to cater for increasing travel demands and contribute to economic cooperation and tourism between Vietnam and India.

A Vietjet Air official announced the plan at the Vietnam-India Business Forum recently held in India.

Four flights will operate each week from July this year.

Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC has reduced its ownership in Vietnam’s budget airline VietJet Air (VJC) to 4.97 per cent and is no longer a major shareholder of the carrier. In a disclosure to Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, GIC said it sold 265,900 shares of VJC to bring down its stake from 5.03 per cent earlier. Meanwhile, Sovico Holdings, 52 per cent owned by VietJet Air CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, registered last month to buy additional 13.67 million shares of the low-cost airline. If successful, Sovico will increase its holding from 4.56 per cent currently to 7.59 per cent. Going by the current stock price of VND203,000 ($8.98), Sovico is expected to spend approximately VND2.8 trillion ($123.2 million) to up its ownership in the airline. CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao directly owns 39.6 million shares, equivalent to an 8.76 per cent stake, in the airline. Sunflower Sunny Investment Company Limited, wholly-owned by Thao, currently is the largest shareholder of VietJet Air with 129 million shares, equivalent to a 28.57 per cent stake. HD Bank, of which Thao is the permanent vice-chairman, also owns a 5 per cent stake in the carrier.

Accordingly, the revenue stood at VND12,560 billion, an increase of 146% year on year thanks to the growth in passenger air transport, ancillary and sale & leaseback revenue. Thanks to the fleet expansion along with the opening of new international routes, the air transport revenue reached VND6,035 billion, an increase of 52% year on year and 10% higher than the company’s target. This increased Vietjet’s core business profit by 74% year on year to nearly VND737 billion. Ancillary revenue also increased by VND1,825 billion, an increment of 64% year on year.

Die Rechnung ist doch ganz einfach.
Einfaches Rechenbeispiel: 2 € Nettoertrag bei 180 Sitzen, bei 10 tägliche Flügen, bei 10 Flugzeugen, bei 360 Tagen im Jahr sind das knapp stattliche13 MIO Nettoertrag.
Das Geschäft ist hart und der Markt umkämpft. Die derzeitgen Bestellungen von ca 190 Flugzeugen könnten bei mangelnder Auslastung der Airline schnell das Genick brechen. Man sagt dann "zu schnell gewachsen".

In the first 6 months, Vietjet continued to report robust growth in revenue and performance

Vietjet announced its business results in the second quarter of 2018 with the robust growth in core business activities including air transport and ancillary revenue.

Air transport revenue in the second quarter reached to VND8,588 billion compared to VND5,648 billion in the same period of 2017 (an increase of 52.05%); profit before tax of air transport in the second quarter reached to over VND950 billion compared to VND661 billion in the same period last year (an increase of 43,7%). In which the proportion of ancillary revenue was up to 24%, approximately USD16 per passenger, the highest ever.
While the load factor in the second quarter was up 28% year on year because the carriers were active in regulating their load factor when the oil price increased, the air transport in the second quarter increased by more than 52% which helped boost the operating profit by over 43% in the context of oil price (MOPS JET A1) rising from USD82.5/barrel to USD88.92/barrel. This results confirmed that the company’s efficiency operating ability was assured even when the oil price increased, by regulating the load factor, saving operating cost, increasing ancillary revenue.
In Q2/2018 Vietjet carried over 5.8 million passengers, an increase of 28%, of which 4.2 million domestic passengers increased by 12.7%, and more than 1.6 international passengers, an increase of 96% over the same period of 2017.
Accumulated air transport revenue in the first 6 months of 2018 reached to VND16,478 billion, an increase of 52.6%. Air transport profit stood at VND1,686 billion, an increase of 53.4% over the same period of 2017, finished 56.2% of the 2018 plan

Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam reported Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Jetstar Pacific and Vietnam Air Services registered 26,578 delays and cancellations out of 177,510 services operated in the seven months ended 31-Jul-2018 (VNA, 11-Aug-2018). VietJet and Vietnam Airlines reported the highest rates of cancellations/delays at 17.5% and 11.7%, or 12,417 and 8970 services, respectively.
